Welcome to The International School of Hyderabad
Welcome to the world of International Education and thank you for taking an interest in the International School of Hyderabad (ISH). ISH provides a high-quality international education for the children of foreign nationals and Indians between the ages of 3 and 18, leading to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) from Cambridge University and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). The school is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). ISH is also officially recognized by the UK Department for Education and Skills (DfES) and the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO).
The main purpose of the school is to provide education to children of ICRISAT, the expatriate community of Hyderabad and all others who appreciate an ‘international type’ of education. At present, our student body consists of students from 24 different nationalities, mainly from the USA, UK, India, Malaysia and France. There are 35 teachers from 10 different nationalities employed at ISH, all highly qualified and most of them have been with the school for many years.
Our curriculum includes social and physical aspects, which allow us to cater to the overall development of each student. It also incorporates, as far as possible, cultural aspects of our host country, India. Our facilities are excellent we use resources and materials from all over the world to support student learning at every level. ISH has examination centre status for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in Grades 9 and 10, coordinated by Cambridge International Examinations. In Grades 11 and 12, ISH offers the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP), leading to a university-entrance qualification recognised worldwide.
The foundation of our work emphasises an individualised and personalised approach to learning with a high priority on 'learning how to learn' and 'critical thinking skills'. These teaching methods provide for the developing needs, abilities and potentials of each and every student to best prepare them for the challenges of the 21st century.
Our teaching methods also promote an interactive approach to learning which equips our students for a comfortable return to the schooling systems in their respective countries.
ISH is a great meeting place for many expatriate families in Hyderabad. As a parent and a newcomer there is no better place to meet other people and to make friends.
ISH is more than just a school that focuses on academic growth and excellence. It is a place where the students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities that foster the development of the student. It is a place where students build abiding friendships even as they learn to respect and appreciate other cultures including that of the host country, India.
I look forward to welcoming you into the ISH community.
